Grant Imes 1923-2010

Fondly remembering Uncle Grant Imes - Peggy's brother, of Calgary - who went to sleep Christmas Eve & didn't wake up Christmas morning. We will miss his wit & wry sense of humor.
He was a WW ll vet who carried shrapnel in him til his death. His rest now is well earned.

A Day with Jaren & Landen

Today Jaren & Landen came for the day. We did all kinds of things but while playing with the kittens Jaren said it was the most fun at our house EVER!
Boys, kittens & boxes make for lots of fun
Don't tell Angie I kept them in boxes all day! Ha! Ha!

Intrpoducing Sheba & Sam

Yesterday Murray's dad brought home some half grown kittens as our farm is not catless. Today Murray brought them to the house and they made themselves right at home. They are so tame & loveable.

Those of you who know me well will find this pic hard to believe but they even stole my heart. Mind you they went back to the barn after we had played with them for a few hours!

Celebrity Speakers

Last week while in Red Deer Murray & I were privileged to listen to several motivational speakers at a seminar. The first one was Hayley Wickenheiser, who was terrific and spoke without notes for 45 minutes. The last one was none other than Robert Herjavec from Murray's favorite TV show Dragon's Den.

We were able to greet Robert & have our picture taken with him. He is a very personable man who hasn't forgotten his humble beginnings and counts his blessings every day.

The Grandsons Oct. 13-18

Oct 13-18 I was blessed to be able to care for our Grandsons while Kim & Yan were cruising in the Caribbean.

Mischief is on its way!

Tussling with Grandma

More fun

Nic & I baked cookies. He was really good at rolling out the dough.

Nic loves soccer and runs non-stop.

Nic wanted his picture taken beside the big tree in the woods.

They found a favorite play spot with big fallen logs.

Mr. Independence! (Lucas)
I had such a great time. The boys were so good & Kim & Yan said they had the best vacation ever so I guess it was win/win all around except for Murray who had to stay home, cook for himself and combine!

Visit to Gene's

Gene's 70th birthday July first took Mom & me to Winnipeg

Gene, Cam,me, Brad & Mom

While in Wpg I was able to reconnect with a childhood friend, Mary, who I went to school with from grades 1-6. That was too many years ago but we had a great time!

Harvest in full swing- finally!

Just yesterday Murray was combining peas in the field by our house. This year he finally gets to use his combine on our own crops. We are getting good harvest weather albeit a month late.

Summer Growth

Our Fall Rye stand was phenomenal this year. Pictured here Murray, his dad & Kevin Letniak.

Murray's Fishing Trip

In late June Murray went on his first ever fishing trip up the north coast of B.C. to River's Inlet.
He brought home this 18 lb salmon!

Senechal summer Visit

I have much to catch up on with our summer happenings so here goes.

In August we were thrilled to have,Kim, Yan, Nic, Luc and Yan's parents visit us on the ranch.

I hope they had as wonderful time as we did. Getting to know Rachelle and Bertrand was such a delight.

We had lovely weather to enjoy the outside only the mosquitoes were a nusiance.

Yan & the boys

Luc is moving around now so he was able to explore around the house. How I remember our kids doing some of these same things!
Grandpa gave Nic some tractor driving lessons.

On Saturday, June 12, we had outdoor church at Kevin & Angie's.

The old train station was a nice backdrop. Some from the Hanna church joined us as well. We rounded out the day with a weiner roast & worship in the evening. Thanks Kevin & Angie for hosting us in such a lovely setting.

Saturday was also Father's 86th birthday & Mother & Father's 61st wedding anniversary. Congratulations to them!

Sunday we had a wonderful visit from Debby Schmitt & Mary, her mother-in-law! They live in Las Vegas & were in Oyen for a funeral. Thanks guys for taking the time to come see our beautiful green world!

Sunday, May 23, 2010

Saturday afternoon Scott, Patricia & Skye came out & brought friends Irfan, Fatima, Ahmed & Sophia. They wanted a tour of the baby calves & bison. It was windy & raining so the tour was quick but we did enjoy the visit nontheless.

The observation has been made that it rains when Skye comes out so we will have to have her come out more often!
While she was here it managed to rain over 3/4 in.

April Snow

On Tuesday & Wednesday we had a spring snowstorm that left us with about 10 inches of heavy wet snow and a power outage of about 16 hours. Our mugo pine trees were pretty flat. This is what Murray saw Wed morning when he went to feed

Calves born outside didn't look too happy to say the least
Steven K. ready to bring this one in.

Bringing in more wet, cold calves

In the barn they were bedded in dry straw & warmed up before going back outside. What a chore.

Nicholas Turns Three

Nicholas turns tree on April 17 so we decided to celebrate a week early while they were here..
Waiting to open gifts.

Angie brought Jaren & Landen over to play & help Nic celebrate.
We even had the greatgrandparents here & Uncle Scott & Auntie Patricia

Nics passion is "CARS" and Lightning McQueen

Kim & I had stayed up late Friday decorating
Nics request for a "Cars" cake.

More of the cake we were so pleased with. ( and Nic was suitably impressed also!)

Enjoying the cake

Lucas wasn't left out
Nic even had a McQueen pinata that he loved playing with so it didn't get demolished & he took it home!
